Dubai boat licenceHow to get a boat licence in Dubai
In Dubai, marine driving licences are issued by the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA). Here is the route most people take — and how we help you through it.
Who needs a licence in Dubai?
Anyone driving a private or commercial boat in Dubai's waters is expected to hold a marine driving licence from the DMCA. Boats need to be permitted to sail before heading out, and that applies whether you plan to anchor, fish or do water sports.
Boats registered in another emirate but used in Dubai also need the right permit. Even for a simple cruise, having your licence sorted is strongly recommended.
RYA Powerboat Level 2 → DMCA licence
Passing RYA Powerboat Level 2 makes you eligible to apply for the DMCA marine driving licence for pleasure boats up to 12 metres (39 ft).
